BI to evaluate foreigners for release amid pandemic

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) plans to evaluate foreigners in its detention facility at Camp Bagong Diwa to decongest the area amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

BI spokesperson Dana Sandoval said three pregnant detainees are considered high risk and will be prioritized for temporary release or deportation.

The BI has identified 418 people currently detained, exceeding the facility's capacity of 140, making it vulnerable to disease outbreaks like COVID-19.
