19 new COVID-19 cases reported in Mandaluyong women's prison

A 72-year-old inmate at the Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) in Mandaluyong City tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday, April 18.

Contact tracing identified 51 people who had contact with the infected inmate, including 42 inmates and nine medical staff. As of Tuesday, April 21, 18 more inmates and one health worker at CIW have also tested positive.

The BuCor stated that those testing positive exhibit mild symptoms or are asymptomatic and are being monitored with vitamins, medicines, and food supplements to boost their immune system.
