BJMP: 9 inmates, 9 staff test positive for COVID-19

Nine inmates and nine personnel at the Quezon City Jail have tested positive for COVID-19 but are showing positive progress in their health.

BJMP Director Allan Iral stated that doctors and nurses are providing round-the-clock medical care to ensure their recovery.

The BJMP spokesperson, Chief Insp. Xavier Solda, emphasized the need to decongest jails due to a more than 500 percent congestion rate.

Solda also announced that the BJMP is limiting the acceptance of individuals into detention facilities and conducting medical examinations for those who must be detained.
