DOH commits 10K test kits for inmate COVID-19 testing

The Department of Health has committed 10,000 COVID-19 test kits for inmates as authorities plan mass testing at prisons with recorded infections.

As of Thursday, 19 inmates and one staff member at the Correctional Institution for Women in Mandaluyong City have tested positive, along with one inmate at the New Bilibid Prison.

The Bureau of Corrections has augmented medical workforce and set up a quarantine area at NBP.

DOJ is discussing mass testing with Red Cross and other parties to address the situation 'with dispatch'.

CIW has been instructed to isolate cases and hospitalize those showing serious symptoms.
