Iloilo orders evacuation of coastal residents

Iloilo City ordered the preemptive evacuation of residents living in coastal villages due to a possible storm surge caused by Typhoon Odette.

The city's disaster risk reduction and management officer stated that ideally all exposed individuals should be evacuated, with 25 out of 180 barangays at risk affecting 4,924 families or 19,067 people.

Evacuation centers are available across the city, and Mayor Jerry P. Treñas has requested schools and universities to allow their buildings for additional shelter.
