Odette deadliest typhoon of 2021 kills over 80

Typhoon Odette, the Philippines' 15th tropical cyclone of 2021, caused widespread destruction across various regions.

As of December 19, the death toll rose to over 80 with Bohol reporting at least 63 deaths and other areas confirming 26 casualties.

Odette displaced nearly half a million people and left an estimated PHP81 million worth of damage in Northern Mindanao alone.

The NDRRMC spokesperson stated that Odette was the most powerful typhoon to hit the country this year, though local preparedness efforts were more focused compared to previous storms.

By December 17, initial reports indicated at least 12 deaths and seven missing persons with over 300,000 individuals evacuated across affected regions.
