IATF allows LGUs to purchase rapid test kits

Local government units (LGUs) have been authorized to purchase and utilize antibody test kits approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases gave this approval, allowing LGUs to screen people for possible infection with COVID-19.

President Rodrigo Duterte will take responsibility for the use of rapid test kits, which can only detect antibodies produced by the body to combat the virus and not the actual presence of SARS-CoV-2.
