Metro Manila under ECQ Aug 6-20

Metro Manila will be placed under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) from August 6 to 20 due to the threat of the Delta coronavirus variant.

The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) estimates that each week of ECQ in Metro Manila, which is the country’s economic center, will cost the economy P105 billion.

Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Karl Kendrick Chua also noted that ECQ could increase poverty by up to 177,000 and leave 444,000 more people without jobs.
