Tim Cone blames self for Gilas' loss to Chinese Taipei

Tim Cone took full responsibility for Gilas Pilipinas' first loss to Chinese Taipei in 12 years, falling 91-84 on Thursday night.

Justin Brownlee led with a strong performance of 39 points and eight assists but costly turnovers and missed shots in the final moments contributed to the team's defeat.

Chinese Taipei's Mohammad Gadiaga, who was not present for their previous match against Gilas Pilipinas, scored 21 points and emphasized his determination to improve Chinese Taipei's standing in the FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers.

Coach Cone admitted that he 'should have prepared us better' after the loss, noting that Chinese Taipei was even stronger than anticipated due to their improved roster.

Despite Brownlee's impressive output of close to half of Gilas Pilipinas' total points, Chinese Taipei maintained composure and made key shots throughout the game, as praised by Coach Cone.

Gilas Pilipinas remains qualified for the FIBA Asia Cup but trails in the standings and aims to recover from this loss against New Zealand on Sunday.
