UST leads UAAP Season 87 blitz chess, advances to semis

University of Santo Tomas has taken a commanding lead in the UAAP Season 87 blitz chess tournament after sweeping single-round robin eliminations to secure the No. 1 seed for the semifinals.

UST, fresh from its title victory in the men's rapid event, will face University of the Philippines in the semifinals while Far Eastern University, with eight points, advances to meet De La Salle University.

In the women's division, UST’s Precious Yecla scored 12.5 points as FEU-Diliman, with April Joy Claros scoring 10 points, also secured a place in the finals against National University-Nazareth School.

Both teams will compete for titles in the boy's and girl's divisions on April 6 after finishing rounds 6 and 7 of the women’s division on April 3.
