UP experts urge 2-week MECQ extension in NCR

UP experts on Wednesday recommended extending Metro Manila's modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) for two more weeks due to high positivity and critical care utilization rates.

Professor Ranjit Rye from UP-OCTA emphasized the need to suppress the virus, stressing that a longer MECQ would be more effective.

Meanwhile, Malacañang on Tuesday said extending MECQ is 'highly unlikely', citing financial constraints for cash assistance to vulnerable sectors.
