Igbaras mayor confirms infected councilor, 200 contacts traced

A 55-year-old male municipal councilor from Igbaras town in Iloilo tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday.

The Contact Tracing Task Force has identified and located all 200 contacts of the infected councilor, with 50 contacts already swabbed on Tuesday and another 50 on Wednesday.

Another batch of 100 contacts will be swabbed on Thursday.

Mayor Jaime Esmeralda, a medical doctor, confirmed that almost all local government unit personnel are high-risk contacts.

The councilor underwent re-swabbing on Tuesday to confirm the test result.

Expanded testing in Igbaras town detected the first case, bringing Iloilo's total cases to 114.
