Philippines reports 21,340 COVID-19 cases, death toll nears 1,000

As of Saturday, June 6, the Philippines reported a total of 21,340 confirmed coronavirus cases with the death toll nearing 1,000 at 994.

The DOH recorded 714 new infections on Saturday, including 350 fresh and 364 late cases.

Fresh cases include 104 from Metro Manila and 171 from Region VII, while late cases are mostly from Metro Manila with some scattered elsewhere.

Recoveries increased by 111 to a total of 4,441.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire noted that the number of late cases is decreasing as laboratories continue validating test results.
