Duterte considers reimposing nationwide lockdown amid UK coronavirus variant

President Rodrigo Duterte suggested reimposing stricter nationwide lockdown measures to prevent the entry of the new coronavirus strain from the UK.

During a meeting with IATF members and health experts at Malacañang Palace, Duterte stated that a return to lockdown would depend on the severity of cases involving the new variant.

Duterte emphasized that if the country is unable to effectively confront the new variant and its case numbers rise significantly, another national lockdown might be necessary.
