Duterte meets IATF-EID on new COVID-19 variant

President Rodrigo Duterte is set to meet with the IATF-EID and infectious disease experts on December 26 to discuss measures against the new COVID-19 variant found in the UK.

Duterte will cut short his Christmas break in Davao City to attend the meeting at Malacañang Palace.

The meeting aims to address concerns about the highly transmissible strain, with discussions possibly including extending travel restrictions from the UK and imposing bans on other countries where the new variant has been detected.
