Duterte files COC for Davao City mayor, Nograles joins race

Former President Rodrigo Duterte filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) to run for mayor of Davao City on Monday, October 7, with Karlo Nograles entering the race as a strong contender by filing his COC on Tuesday morning.

Atty. Elijah Manuel Pepito submitted Paolo Duterte's COC at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) office earlier today, while two independent candidates, Rex Labis and Janeth Jabines, have already filed their COCs for the 1st District Representative position, challenging Paolo Duterte's bid for a third term.

Rodrigo Duterte seeks to reclaim his former mayoralty position in Davao City, where he first solidified his political power from 1988 to 2016 before becoming president in 2016.

The Duterte family's political dynasty is expected to run five members for various positions in the local race in Davao City, including Rodrigo Duterte II for councilor and Omar Duterte for second district representative.

Former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Oscar Albayalde filed his COC for mayor of Angeles City, Pampanga, alongside former councilor Amos Rivera who is vying for vice mayor.
