Pia Cayetano files COC for senatorial bid, skips media

Senator Pia Cayetano filed her certificate of candidacy (COC) for the 2025 midterm elections on Sunday afternoon at the Manila Hotel, riding a bicycle from the Cultural Center of the Philippines to show support for public transportation.

She was greeted by supporters who welcomed her with pink and white roses, marking her as the second senatorial candidate from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s party, Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas, to skip customary media interviews after filing.

Her brother, incumbent Senator Alan Peter Cayetano, also attended to show his support for her reelection bid.

A successful run would ensure both Pia and Alan remain in the Senate until 2028, continuing their political dynasty in Taguig where Lani, Pia's sister-in-law, is mayor, and Lino seeks a seat in the House of Representatives.

Since joining the Senate in 2004, Senator Cayetano has been an advocate for women's rights and health legislation.
