DOH welcomes drop of COVID-19 out of PH's Top 10 causes of death

DOH officer-in-charge Maria Rosario Vergeire welcomed news that COVID-19 is no longer among the Philippines' Top 10 causes of death.

According to Philippine Statistics Authority data released on January 23, COVID-19 ranked 11th as a cause of death in the country from January to September 2022.

Vergeire noted this significant drop from its third position in 2021 and said it indicates fewer deaths due to COVID-19 and better prevention by the healthcare system.
