DOH: Too early to predict NCR's alert level extension

The Department of Health (DOH) said on Monday it was too early to predict whether the National Capital Region's (NCR) current COVID-19 alert level 4 would be extended or raised.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire stated that an assessment is needed before any decision can be made, and the effects of the new alert level system will only be visible after two to three weeks.

Vergeire also noted that cases in NCR had not yet peaked and were projected to peak towards the end of September or early October.

Interior Secretary Eduardo Año reported on Sunday that the implementation of Alert Level 4 has been orderly with good feedback, though some issues have arisen and been promptly addressed.
