Gov't focuses on surge areas outside NCR for vaccinations

The national vaccination program is focusing on surge areas outside the National Capital Region (NCR) where only 5 percent of the eligible population is fully vaccinated.

Dr. Ted Herbosa, medical adviser to the NTF, stated that the government is accelerating inoculation efforts in Visayas and Mindanao, particularly in the 'Plus 8' areas such as Metro Cebu, Metro Davao, Bulacan, Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, Pampanga, and Rizal.

The NTF has also started preparations for expanding the vaccine rollout to individuals aged 12 to 17 in NCR, with about 64.21 percent of NCR's target population fully vaccinated and 84.09 percent having received their first dose.
