PH detects 38 close contacts positive for UK Covid variant

Health authorities have identified 38 close contacts of patients infected with the UK variant of SARS-CoV-2 who tested positive for COVID-19.

Of these, six have already tested negative for the UK variant while 28 await genome sequencing results.

The DOH also reported that 144 close contacts of the 12 cases in Bontoc were identified but are not confirmed to have the UK variant.

NBI found two additional close contacts, co-passengers from Dubai who had not been traced by the DOH, one located in Cavite.

DOH-7 is monitoring a female OFW for a possible third case of the UK variant in Central Visayas; her sample will be sent to PGC for genome sequencing.
