DOH: COVID-19 spread slowing but health system at high risk

The increase in coronavirus cases appears to be slowing down, but the country's health system capacity remains at high risk.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said that despite a 5% decrease in daily cases from September 13-19 compared to the previous week, infections may still rise due to the Delta variant and active case finding.

OCTA Research fellow Fredegusto P. David tweeted on Sunday that a consistent decline in cases might indicate that the peak has been reached, contradicting earlier statements by the DOH.
