Philippines logs high number of Delta variant cases

As of Tuesday, September 14, Eastern Visayas reported 34 new Delta variant cases out of 37 total coronavirus variants detected.

The region also recorded two Beta variant cases and one P.3 variant case.

Central Visayas logged 16 new community cases of the Delta variant, bringing the total number of sequenced Delta cases in the country to 2,708 as reported by the DOH on Monday.

According to the DOH, 85.6% or 640 out of 748 positive samples recently sequenced were found to have the highly transmissible Delta variant.
