Joanie Delgaco finishes 20th in women's single sculls at Paris Olympics

Joanie Delgaco competed in the women's single sculls event at the Paris Olympics, finishing sixth in her semifinal C/D race and advancing to the classification final D where she secured a 20th overall finish.

In her semifinal race on Wednesday, July 31, Delgaco started strong but fell back to sixth place with a time of 8:00.18, finishing behind Serbia's Jovana Arsic (7:44.60), Slovenia's Nina Kostanjsek (7:48.86), Brazil's Beatriz Cunha Tavares Cardoso (7:49.96), and Paraguay's Alejandra Alonso (7:56.50).

Delgaco clocked her fastest time of 7:43.83 in the final D to finish second, securing a high finish among the top 19th to 24th places.

Despite slower times in earlier races and a last-place finish in the quarterfinal on Tuesday with a time of 7:58.30, Delgaco's performance represents a significant step forward for Philippine rowing.
