Davao City Praised for Effective Covid-19 Response

PCOO Secretary Martin Andanar hailed Davao City as a model for other local governments in their Covid-19 response.

Mayor Sara Duterte's proactive approaches, including four types of food relief programs and temporary employment initiatives like TUPAD, have helped mitigate the pandemic's impact on residents.

During ECQ, Mayor Duterte implemented FM passes and clustered barangays to limit movement, which Dabawenyos largely adhered to, helping control infection rates.

The city also launched educational assistance for schoolchildren and 'Work for Davao' programs to support displaced workers.

Duterte emphasized the importance of following health protocols such as staying at home, wearing masks, maintaining physical distance, and frequent handwashing.
