Davao placed under community quarantine despite zero cases

Davao City was placed under community quarantine on Sunday, March 15, despite having zero confirmed cases of COVID-19.

Mayor Sara Duterte declared the quarantine to prevent waiting for a positive case before taking action; testing results take about two days.

The executive order requires residents to stay at home except for essential activities like work, buying food and medicine, or seeking medical care.

A total lockdown scenario was discussed by the local Inter-Agency Task Force on March 14 but is not imminent.

Before the community quarantine, Davao City had already closed its borders to visitors and temporarily shut down public areas like parks and the Night Market.
