San Juan mayor: Woman with COVID-19 stable, did not escape

San Juan Mayor Francis Zamora said a woman who tested positive for COVID-19 and was previously reported to have tried to escape is now stable and receiving proper care.

The patient initially went to a preferred private hospital but was later escorted by city health officials and police to another facility due to capacity issues.

Zamora also clarified that the woman did not run away from authorities.

As of Friday, San Juan has nine confirmed cases of COVID-19.

Earlier reports indicated eight new cases in San Juan, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the city to seven out of 33 nationwide as of Wednesday.
