DA allocates P680M aid for Bicol typhoon victims

The Department of Agriculture (DA) has allocated P680 million to assist typhoon-affected farmers and fishermen in Bicol.

As part of this aid, PHP592 million will be used as an indemnification fund for 32,761 farmers whose crops were damaged by Super Typhoon Rolly.

The assistance includes seeds, fertilizers, farm implements, and fishing gears distributed to affected areas like Albay.

Additionally, the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) has a PHP1 billion available indemnification fund to cover losses from typhoons Rolly and Quinta.

Farmers can avail of crop insurance by coordinating with their regional government offices.

The Agricultural Credit Policy Council (ACPC) will provide affected farmers with PHP25,000 through its SURE loan program, which includes a zero-interest loan payable over 10 years.
