Cebu City extends ECQ until May 15

Cebu City is extending its enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) until May 15, not May 30 as previously announced.

The decision was based on recommendations from health experts and the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the city.

A new 200-bed quarantine facility will open on Saturday with negative pressure ventilation systems to prevent airborne transmission.

Mayor Labella emphasized that the ECQ may be lifted earlier if there is a significant decrease in recorded cases.
