Bicol on red alert as Karding strands travelers

Super Typhoon Karding has led to a 'no sailing policy' in Bicol, stranding at least 571 passengers, 89 rolling cargoes, and multiple sea vessels.

The Philippine Coast Guard enforced the policy, with most travelers stranded in Matnog port in Sorsogon.

Local officials placed the entire Bicol region on red alert status, activating Emergency Operation Centers to ensure appropriate response measures are taken.

Forced evacuation of vulnerable populations has been ordered, and disaster response offices have been put on high alert.
