BI deploys extra personnel for Holy Week travel

Around 50,000 travelers are expected daily at the country's international airports during Holy Week, according to the Bureau of Immigration (BI) on Monday, April 14.

BI personnel assigned at the country's airports were not allowed to take leaves of absence this Holy Week due to the expected influx of travelers, as BI Deputy Spokesperson Melvin Mabulac stated in a PTV interview on Tuesday, April 15.

The BI has fielded an additional 48 immigration personnel to help process passengers and opened a wing for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) at NAIA Terminal 3 to address the rising number of travelers.

BI Commissioner Joel Anthony M. Viado assured the public that up to 88 frontliners will be present during peak hours, delivering swift and seamless service as per President's directive.

Immigration counters at NAIA Terminal 3 were fully manned on Tuesday morning as passenger demand continued to rise, according to an Unang Balita report by Bam Alegre.
