BARMM placed under MGCQ starting June 1

The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanaa (BARMM) will be placed under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) starting June 1 until June 15.

This decision contradicts an earlier statement by BARMM spokesperson Naguib Sinarimbo, who had announced that the region would be under general community quarantine (GCQ).

Under MGCQ, residents of all ages are allowed to leave their homes provided they follow minimum health standards such as wearing face masks and maintaining physical distancing.

Social and religious gatherings are now permitted but limited to 50% venue capacity, with specific guidelines for Islamic religious events set by the Regional Darul Ifta’ of BARMM.

Transportation services will also resume under MGCQ with limitations on seating capacity and adherence to health protocols.
