Ateneo secures victory over NU 70-68, snaps three-game losing streak

Ateneo de Manila University secured their second victory in UAAP Season 87 with a narrow 70-68 win over National University on Sunday, marking a significant improvement for the rebuilding team.

Rookie Kristian Porter led Ateneo with a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds, contributing crucial plays in the final minutes including a key basket that extended their lead to three points.

Despite trailing by as much as 13 points in the second quarter, National University mounted a late surge but failed to capitalize on key opportunities, leading to their fourth single-possession loss this season.

Coach Tab Baldwin praised his team's resilience and noted that it was enough to secure the victory and snap a three-game losing streak, highlighting the importance of sticking to their game plan and displaying toughness in crucial moments.

Both Porter and Bahay embraced the pressure of leading the rebuilding Ateneo squad, acknowledging their roles in overcoming adversity and focusing on continuous improvement.
