DLSU beats UE 77-68, improves to 7-1 with fourth straight win

De La Salle University (DLSU) avenged its first-round loss against the University of the East (UE) and opened the second round of UAAP Season 87 with a 77-68 victory on Saturday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The win marked DLSU's fourth consecutive victory, improving their record to 7-1 in the tournament standings.

Mike Phillips led DLSU with a double-double of 27 points and 17 rebounds, along with five assists, two blocks, and one steal.

DLSU pulled away from UE after trailing at halftime with a decisive 27-point outburst in the third quarter, leading by as much as 11 points in the fourth.

Precious Momowei topped the losing side for UE with 21 points and nine rebounds, but it wasn't enough to overcome DLSU's strong defensive effort.
