NU wins third women's volleyball title in four years

Vange Alinsug scored the game-winning point as National University (NU) clinched their third women's volleyball championship in four years by sweeping La Salle 25-19, 25-18, 25-19 in Game 2 of the UAAP Season 87 finals on Wednesday, May 14.

Bella Belen led NU with a tournament-high 18 points and 11 digs while Vange Alinsug contributed nine crucial points down the stretch to secure their victory at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Shaira Jardio was a key defensive player for NU, providing 21 digs and 12 excellent receptions in the match.

With National University now holding five total championships in the UAAP, they aim to maintain their competitive edge under Alinsug's leadership as she prepares to take on greater responsibilities next season.

Angel Canino scored 12 points for La Salle but was unable to prevent their defeat, marking two years since La Salle last won the title.
