FEU beats NU in five sets for historic UAAP win

Far Eastern University (FEU) secured a historic five-set victory over National University (NU) in Game 1 of the UAAP Season 87 men's volleyball finals on Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The match ended with scores of 22-25, 25-22, 13-25, 25-22, and 15-13 in front of a passionate crowd.

FEU's Dryx Saavedra led his team with a game-high 25 points from attacks, blocks, and an ace, while Amet Bituin contributed 16 crucial points including the winning hit in the fifth set.

Despite strong efforts by NU's Leo Ordiales who scored 23 points, FEU managed to hold off the Bulldogs and secure their first finals victory since Season 74.

NU coach Dante Alinsunurin acknowledged that FEU worked hard point-by-point during Game 1 but vowed to regroup for Game 2 on Wednesday at Mall of Asia Arena.
