Alas Pilipinas wins first game in SEA V.League

Alas Pilipinas is competing in the first leg of the 2025 Southeast Asian V.League this week in Candon City, Ilocos Sur, aiming for a podium spot as they prepare for the FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship.

The Philippine national squad, led by Ken Batas and Jerico Adajar, secured their first victory over Vietnam on Wednesday with key contributions from younger players like Eco Adajar and Leo Ordiales, who stepped up in place of injured or absent teammates.

Eco Adajar and Leo Ordiales demonstrated strong leadership and skill during the match, helping Alas Pilipinas win 25-17, 25-23, 25-19 despite Owa Retamar being unavailable due to illness and Marck Espejo's ankle sprain.

Candon City Mayor Eric Singson expressed his pleasure at hosting this international tournament and hopes it will put Candon on the global sports map. The tournament offers a prize fund of $55,000 (P3.15 million), with the champion receiving $13,000 (around P743,000).

Alas Pilipinas faces Thailand in their next match and will take on Cambodia and Indonesia over the weekend.
