UP beats Adamson 13-9 in baseball, Adamson defeats DLSU 13-0 in softball

The University of the Philippines (UP) secured its first win in the UAAP Season 86 Baseball tournament by defeating Adamson University with a score of 13-9 on Thursday, while Adamson responded by defeating De La Salle University in softball with a score of 13-0 on Saturday.

Despite starting behind early, UP rallied back to take the lead in the seventh inning after breaking through with three runs, while Adamson's Krishna Cantor led their hitting barrage with a triple and an inside-the-park home run.

In the crucial sixth inning, Mark Liwanagan's triple ignited a seven-run surge that gave UP the advantage and ultimately secured the victory, whereas Cantor finished with a perfect three-on-three clip in softball, scoring two of the 13 runs for Adamson.

UP's rookie pitcher Daniel Badrina struggled initially but improved later, allowing just two more runs over his next three innings before handing the ball to Darren Mayo, while Glory Alonzo made her Season 86 debut with one strikeout and Jane Sigue finished the game without any hits allowed by Adamson.

Kobe Torres then closed out the game for UP with three strikeouts, including two in the final inning, as Adamson improved their softball record to 2-0 with a strong performance against De La Salle University.
