Philippines reports 10,726 new COVID-19 infections

The Philippines reported 10,726 new COVID-19 infections on Friday, pushing the total active cases to a record high of 193,476.

Total recoveries increased by 650 to reach 705,757 while the death toll rose by 145 to 15,738.

On Thursday, the country's case tally surpassed 900,000 with 11,429 new infections and 148 additional deaths.

The recovery rate stands at 78%, with mild cases comprising 96% of active cases.

Twenty-four duplicate cases were removed from the total count, and 68 previously reported recoveries were reclassified as deaths.
