DOH: New COVID-19 cases rise to 840k, death toll hits 14.5k

As of Friday, April 9, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Philippines increased to 840,554 with an additional 12,225 new cases reported.

The death toll rose by 401 to a total of 14,520 after final validation revealed that some previously recorded recoveries were actually fatalities.

Active cases in the country now stand at 178,351 with 97.5% classified as mild, 1.4% asymptomatic, 0.5% severe and 0.4% critical.

On Wednesday, April 7, the DOH reported over 14,000 total deaths due to COVID-19 after an additional 242 cases were recorded that day.
