Filipinos aboard Diamond Princess cruise ship doing well amid quarantine

Filipinos aboard the MV Diamond Princess cruise ship docked in Yokohama Port, Japan, are doing well despite being quarantined after one passenger tested positive for COVID-19.

Over 3,700 passengers and crew members, including 538 Filipinos, have been under quarantine since February 3. As of Monday, 135 people on the ship have tested positive for the virus.

The DFA is coordinating with Japanese authorities to provide assistance to Filipino nationals onboard. Four more Filipinos, all crew members, were confirmed to be infected, bringing the total number of infected Filipinos to five.

One Filipino woman and her Australian husband are among those quarantined; they joined the cruise on January 20 for their 20th wedding anniversary.
