Soccsksargen PUI tests negative for nCoV

The Department of Health-Region 12 has cleared a patient under investigation (PUI) for the novel coronavirus acute respiratory disease (2019-nCoV) in Soccsksargen after testing negative for the virus.

The PUI, a female Filipino who recently traveled to Singapore and Macau, China, had been undergoing a 14-day mandatory quarantine at an undisclosed hospital.

She will remain in isolation for another 48 hours as per protocol from the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) before being discharged.

Meanwhile, there are no confirmed cases of 2019-nCoV in the region, and necessary prevention and control measures are being undertaken by the DOH and local government units to prevent its spread.

At least 24 patients under monitoring (PUMs) for the disease are on self-quarantine in parts of Soccsksargen, including foreign nationals who had a history of recent travel to countries with confirmed cases of 2019-nCoV.
