DOH: PH Covid-19 recoveries hit 253K, active cases rise

The Philippines' total number of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) recoveries increased to 253,488 on Wednesday after the Department of Health (DOH) reported 585 new recoveries.

Active cases rose to 52,702 with 2,426 new infections recorded, bringing the total number of active cases up from Tuesday's count.

The majority of new cases were in Metro Manila with 887, followed by Cavite (201), Rizal (147), Negros Occidental (115), and Batangas (99).

Overall, the country's total number of confirmed cases reached 311,694, while the death toll increased to 5,504 with 58 new fatalities.

Additionally, 14 previously reported recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.
