Philippines Reports Increased Recoveries and New Cases Amidst Ongoing Pandemic

As of Tuesday, April 6, the Philippines' total recoveries from COVID-19 reached 646,381, representing a recovery rate of 79.5 percent.

The Department of Health (DOH) reported 313 new recoveries and 9,373 new confirmed cases on Tuesday, increasing active cases to 152,562.

Additionally, the DOH recorded 382 more deaths, raising the death toll to 13,817.

On Monday, April 5, there were 145 new recoveries and 8,355 new confirmed cases, with active cases at 143,726 and a positivity rate of 21%.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire stated that it is too early to conclude whether the enhanced community quarantine in Metro Manila has slowed down COVID-19 transmission.
