Zamboanga City confirms second Covid-19 case

Zamboanga City has recorded its second confirmed case of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19), a 48-year-old female from Barangay Tumaga with a travel history from Manila.

The patient, who arrived in the city on March 1 via Cebu Pacific after attending a seminar in Manila, is currently admitted to the isolation room of West Metro Medical Center.

Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco stated that the patient is recovering well and will soon be transferred to the Zamboanga City Medical Center, which serves as the city's Covid-19 center.

Barangay Tumaga, where the patient resides, has been placed under lockdown to prevent residents from moving in and out.

The city government, in collaboration with West Metro, is implementing strict protocols and has initiated contact tracing for the newly confirmed case.

As of March 30, Zamboanga City has recorded 56 patients under investigation (PUIs), with 17 testing negative, and 1,995 persons under monitoring (PUMs), of whom 1,392 have been cleared.

Mayor Climaco urged residents to remain calm, avoid panic, and continue to stay at home to prevent the spread of the virus.
