Eastern Visayas confirms second COVID-19 case

Eastern Visayas has confirmed its second case of COVID-19, a 63-year-old male from Calbayog City with a travel history to Metro Manila.

The patient, who has been suffering from dry cough and had comorbidities, was admitted twice to a private hospital before being set for transfer to the Eastern Visayas Regional Medical Center.

DOH-8 Director Minerva Molon stated there is no local transmission in the region as the first and second cases are unrelated and had no contact upon returning home.

The first confirmed COVID-19 case in the region, a 51-year-old female from Catarman, Northern Samar, has tested negative twice and was discharged on Tuesday for 14 days of home isolation.

DOH-8 urges the public to strictly observe social distancing and proper hygiene to prevent the spread of the virus.
