Zamboanga City confirms third Covid-19 case, a pregnant woman

Zamboanga City has confirmed its third case of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), a 30-year-old pregnant woman from Barangay Tetuan.

The patient, who had no travel history, had exposure to an individual who traveled from Manila on March 12.

She presented with symptoms of fever, cough, and loose bowel movement starting March 19 and was admitted to the Zamboanga City Medical Center on March 27.

The patient, who has diabetes and was 36 weeks pregnant upon admission, delivered her child via cesarean section on March 28.

Contact tracing is underway for individuals who may have been in close contact with the newly confirmed case, with three family members and office mates currently quarantined and showing no symptoms.

As of April 3, Zamboanga City has about 60 persons under investigation (PUIs), with 11 admitted to a hospital and 17 in an isolation facility, and 2,380 persons under monitoring (PUMs).
