V.P. Sara offers OVP buses for free rides amid transport strike

Vice President Sara Duterte announced that the Office of the Vice President (OVP) offered its buses and drivers to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) to provide free rides to commuters affected by the transport strike.

Duterte visited the MMDA Communications and Command Center to check the status of commuters and the strike's effects.

She lauded the MMDA for its effective response to the transport strike staged by PISTON.

The OVP buses were among the 686 vehicles prepositioned by the MMDA across Metro Manila.

As of 2 p.m. on November 20, the MMDA had dispatched 74 vehicles, serving 1,815 commuters.

MMDA chairman Don Artes stated that the transport strike by PISTON did not paralyze public transport in Metro Manila during the morning rush hour.

Duterte also appealed to the protesting group to engage in dialogue with the government.
