MMDA says PISTON strike peaceful, minimal disruption

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) reported that the three-day transport strike organized by PISTON was peaceful and caused minimal disruption to public transportation.

MMDA acting chairman Romando Artes stated that any reported incidents of harassment were immediately addressed by the police.

The Interagency Task Force on Tigil-Pasada ensured commuters affected by the strike had transportation, preparing 686 vehicles, though less than 100 were deployed.

Artes noted that stranded passengers were mostly located in Malabon, Caloocan, and Paranaque.

The PISTON transport strike concluded on November 23, protesting the December 31 deadline for jeepney operators to join the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program.

The MMDA has yet to feel the effect of the transport strike organized by another group, Manibela, which will continue until Friday.
