Shear line affects 307,000 in 5 regions

Around 307,000 individuals across five regions have been affected by severe weather conditions brought by a shear line.

Eastern Visayas remains the most affected area, with 133,000 individuals impacted.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported 132 flooded areas and 17 landslides.

As a result of the heavy rains, 21 roads are impassable and 2 bridges are damaged, with telecommunications interrupted in parts of Eastern Visayas.

A total of 43,665 individuals are currently housed in 104 evacuation centers.

NDRRMC spokesperson Mark Timbal reminded the public that disasters can occur even without a tropical cyclone and urged cooperation with local authorities.
